(d) I didn't know how to sew. I've never really felt the need to learn, so my grandma taught me. No sewing machines were used (though we attempted, but we couldn't figure it out. Instead, we just used needles.

Interpretive:

Learning how to sew is an essential step in becoming relevant in the fashion industry for obvious reasons. Once ideas are sketched out, designers have to have their designs created and brought to life.

Without someone their to sew, their designs would be nothing, but sketches and drawings on pieces of paper. So I took the opportunity to sew a few things with my grandmother and it proved difficult, but got easier as time progressed.   The following photos are from the time I'd spent working/sewing different things. I don't have all of my products here, but I do plan to show all of them during my two-hour presentation.

Applied:

My independent component helped to understand how difficult it can be to piece together something and sew it. The most difficult part for me was just having the patience to do the sewing by hand and I felt more accomplished with the result at the end. Despite the fact that I became frustrated often because of the  gazillion times I'd accidentally stabbed my finger with the sewing needle. I will never underestimate the time seamstresses put into these types of things ever again, that's for certain.
